My Twitter Updates from 2010-08-20

  • Back down at @TheNewSchool again. New student orientation advising.
Feel like I should be out getting new rulers & pencils myself! #
  • Uh, you're not using that phrase in the Seinfield sense I hope!
RT @marisabirns: Well when you're the master of your domain, you get tugs… #
  • It's the middle of August…thought everything was supposed to be quiet. School, consulting & filmmaking have all gone nuts at once! #
  • Moving slow today. Bad case of #RestlessLegs syndrome last night, couldn't sleep.
On the plus side, I now know a lot about Saturn's rings! #

Talented and prolific writer (and fimmaker) Irin Evers and his writing partner John Barlowe have won the June edition of the Script Savvy screenwriting contest with their fun comedy OUT OF SYNC. The logline lets you know exactly the focus of the action:

A disgraced manager attempts to reunite a former boy band, only to find out that the now 40 year-old “boys” are woefully past their prime.

Irin wrote to tell me that:

“Of all the contests I’ve placed in [Script Savvy has] gotten the most reads and Donna White (who runs it) really pushes to get the scripts out there.”

Good to hear and here’s to OUT OF SYNC being in sync with script readers & buyers soon. Congratulations Irin & John!

  • Lock the freezer — #Cathy comic strip to end after 34 years!

  • Agree. Anything impeding flow must go!
RT @thinkStory: me, too, think it takes "us" right out of the story flow. (who is this "we" anyway?) #
  • Bingo!
RT @zaniacmedic: "We see" in scripts is easy; therefore it's a crutch for many looking for a shortcut to good prose. #
  • Reading Neal Stephenson's CRYPTONOMICON on iPhone. Doesn't feel near beer to me!
RT @ebertchicago: Digital books are like Near Beer. #
  • Have to admit, I really dislike the term "We see" in scripts. We see EVERYTHING in description, so it's redundant. Write tighter w/out it. #
  • Rrrrrrraaaaahhhhhhhooonnnnn!
    (Wookie-speak for yep)
RT @marisabirns: With your height and gait, you'd certainly be easy to find in NYC. :) #
